Silksong showed up at the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct... for like two seconds. The company showed a quick image and stated that the game is launching at some point in 2025.
The highly-anticipated follow-up to Hollow Knight has become a recurrent joke whenever a new presentation, particularly a Direct, comes around. Silksong was announced back in 2019, making it over six long years of waiting for fans.
In fairness to Team Cherry, a devoted independent studio, the initial scope for Silksong was smaller. The game was set to be a DLC for Hollow Knight before the team consistently upped the ante and Silksong became a full sequel project.
Years later, in 2022, the game would make a rare appearance with a new trailer. It also confirmed that Silksong will be a Game Pass day one release, whenever it ends up being coming out.
This past January, the developers once again eased expectations, saying that the game is still planned to come out and hasn't been canceled or is in some sort of development hell. The Switch 2 cameo might have been a few seconds long, but it sparked hope in all those who keep expecting Silksong to show up at every conference.
In any case, Silksong has a release year attached to it and that's 2025. We'll have to wait and see if that comes true.
