Scott Pilgrim is back. Fans of the iconic franchise that tuned in to Summer Game Fest received an incredible surprise: Scott Pilgrim EX, a brand-new beat 'em up developed by Tribute Games, the studio behind TMNT: Shredder's Revenge set to come out in 2026 for consoles and PC.
Scott Pilgrim EX will feature a new story in collaboration with series creator Bryan Lee O'Malley that will see Scott Pilgrim, Ramona Flowers, and more characters try and save Toronto in an adventure across space and time as they battle multiple gangs, including Scott's biggest enemy besides Ramona's ex's: vegans.
There will be a total of seven playable characters. Of course, Scott Pilgrim and Ramona Flowers will join the fray, but the remaining five are still yet unknown. Expect classic characters like Knives Chau, Stephen Stills, Wallace Wells, and a few others to be revealed at a later date.
What's interesting about this beat 'em up is that the trailer gave us some glimpses into the gameplay. Beyond flashy combos, it looks like it'll take a page from the River City Girls titles, as there will be a unique exploration element with players able to uncover Toronto's secrets to unlock more quests and areas.
Tribute Games is poised to have two incredible years back-to-back. If they can hit the high expectations fans have of Marvel Cosmic Invasion, Scott Pilgrim EX will have beat 'em up fans salivating at the chance of playing it.
As mentioned, Scott Pilgrim EX is set to come out in 2026 for both PC and consoles. Which consoles is still to be announced, but expect it to hit all major hardware including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch 1 and 2.
