Rumored Batman Game Might Debut on PS6

New Batman Game

There is no official word yet, but everything points to Rocksteady's next game bringing Batman back into focus and possibly being one of the first titles on PS6.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League didn't quite hit the mark, but it looks like Rocksteady might be going back to what they do best: a single-player game, probably with the Dark Knight.

The rumors surfaced after a job posting for a Senior Core Engine Programmer at Rocksteady was spotted. According to the listing, a new AAA title is in development for platforms like PS5, Xbox Series X/S, high-end PCs, and, intriguingly, the "next generation of consoles." That seemingly minor phrase has triggered an avalanche of rumors.

It suggests that Rocksteady's unannounced project is being built with long-term hardware cycles in mind, not just the current console landscape.

And while the job description doesn't explicitly say "Batman," the wording around core engine systems, performance optimization, and tool creation for gameplay content has people comparing it to the Arkham series right away.

The timing is what also makes this interesting. Rumors in the industry hint at the PS6 being released sometime around 2027 or 2028. Big AAA games take years to make, especially if the studio is still hiring, so it makes sense.

It's no shock if this new title arrives as the next generation of consoles makes its debut. Even if the game launches for PS5 first, a PS6 release down the line feels almost guaranteed.

We don't know yet if this mystery title will continue in the Arkham universe or explore a fresh direction, but there's no denying the hints we're seeing.

With platform targets, engine details, and timing all aligning, it's looking more and more probable that Rocksteady's next game will bring us back to Gotham.

It could also be one of the first major titles to demonstrate what the PS6 can truly do fully.
