Remember Resident Evil 6? You’ve probably only heard bad things about it, but I'm here to tell you it is still worth your time. Despite its disjointed storyline and complete lack of survival horror elements, it remains a great game. Why? Because of its single greatest strength that not many Resident Evil titles have replicated: the combat.
Picture this: Leon going full guns akimbo through a swarm of undead in a plague-stricken Chinese city, bobbing and weaving through a horde of zombies while pulling off dive kicks and trying to impress Helena. Resident Evil 6 knows how to keep the energy flowing with its intense action, but it risked so much on that front that it ended up becoming more of a pure action game than the horror series we knew and loved.

That risk has always been at the heart of its criticism, yet Resident Evil 6 still deserves more credit than it gets. Its reliance on action makes it stand out, even if it veered away from tradition.
What makes it even better is its seamless split-screen mode, perfect for good times with a friend. I first played Resident Evil 6 sometime around 2018, and I’ve always invited friends over to run through the story together.
The newer titles have fully embraced survival horror again, especially with the first-person perspective, but I still wish Capcom would bring back the wild, over-the-top action in a separate spin-off. Sure, we got Re:Verse, which leaned into action over horror, but it never quite clicked the way Capcom hoped, eventually leading to its shutdown.
The Resident Evil 4 remake came close, pushing harder on the action side of things, but it still felt more like a refined take on the original, where young Leon could do just about anything. Village gave us some action-heavy sequences with Chris Redfield, but they were short-lived and sometimes dragged on.
Call me delusional, but I’d love to see more action in future Resident Evil games. The animated movies have scratched that itch, showing fan-favorite characters taking on the undead in explosive fashion, and it’s always a thrill to watch.
Still, the idea of bringing back action-horror splits the Resident Evil community, so maybe we’re better off looking toward a different IP that carries the spirit of Resident Evil 6.

Maybe the upcoming sci-fi Pragmata will fill that void? And who knows, rumors suggest Leon will play a major role in the upcoming Resident Evil Requiem, even if Capcom remains tight-lipped about it. Maybe that could be the very thing I need.
