The Resident Evil 4 remake is a huge success, to no one’s surprise. It sold 10 million copies, and fans are now waiting for the inevitable Switch 2 port to blow everyone away.

Based on the Switch’s library of Resident Evil games, Switch 2 ports of the modern remakes are inevitable. We think that Capcom can go the extra mile by adding motion controls and mouse controls, as a tribute to the acclaimed Wii Edition.

Seeing Resident Evil 4 remake on other consoles outside of a Nintendo system felt off for some fans. They knew that the Switch couldn’t handle this game, but it was still sad seeing a Gamecube remake skip Nintendo’s hybrid system.

Now that the Switch 2 has shown how powerful it is, Capcom should be able to port this remake with no issue. Adding motion and mouse controls to the equation would also make it the definitive edition of this revamped classic.

We just named this Switch 2 port, "Resident Evil 4 Remake: Definitive Edition," you’re welcome Capcom.

Motion controls aren’t for everyone, but they have a special place in the hearts of RE4 fans. The great Wii Edition of this shooter had incredibly smooth motion controls that put first-party Nintendo games to shame. Fans even had options to use the GameCube or Classic Controller, making it feel truly definitive.

Adding these options would make Resident Evil 4 remake on Switch 2 superior to the original game on Switch. It’s still a good game for that system, but fans were shocked when Capcom didn’t include the Wii’s motion controls for the Joy-Con. Instead, the Switch version of Resident Evil 5 had them, weirdly making that the definitive edition of this underrated sequel.

While we’re at it, Capcom can also add motion and mouse controls for Switch 2 ports of the other RE remakes. Those games are currently stuck as Cloud games on original Switch hardware, just like Square’s equally disgusting Kingdom Hearts Cloud ports.

Now that Nintendo is going all in with motion and mouse controls for the Switch 2, we won’t be surprised if Resident Evil 4 Remake gets that kind treatment. We’ve seen them work really well for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Civilization 7, so they’ll naturally fit the RE games. They already have PC ports, so tweaking this shouldn’t take much work.

In the end, we wouldn’t complain about “basic” ports of these Resident Evil games. These are still incredible third-person shooters that anyone would want to play. Let’s just hope they get ported well.

Seriously though, Resident Evil 4 Remake: Definitive Edition writes itself…
