Based on his wording, it seems this information wasn't something he heard recently, but rather something that got passed to him a while ago. This could still be the studio's target release window, but since a date hasn't been announced, development must still be miles away from finishing.

The leaker is mostly known for his insider information on Nintendo, having recently revealed the newest Star Fox title before its announcement, but he also shares leaks from games on other platforms.

When another user asked which game would be released first between God of War: Laufey and Until Dawn 2, the leaker said that Until Dawn 2 is also targeting a release in the first half of 2027, but " timelines could shift, as nothing is set in stone at this stage."

Santa Monica Studio, the same studio behind God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarok (2022), is in charge of developing the new title, which will be released exclusively on the PS5. This comes after Sony reportedly decided to return to console exclusivity, ruling out a PC port in the future.
