Pokémon Day certainly is one of the most thrilling dates in the entire year. It's a day of celebration, admiring Pokémon classics, art, and designs. Of course, it's also a moment of announcements. It's a big day for both Pokémon fans and Nintendo, as the news set the expectations around the future of the title. If Pokémon Day wasn't thrilling enough, Pokémon Day 2026 will be even more special as this year is Pokémon's 30th anniversary.
Whilst Pokémon Day is happening next week, on Friday, February 27, Nintendo have already dropped some big news: Pokémon Red and Green remakes will be listed in the Nintendo Shop. These two Game Boy Advance games include the first generation of Pokémon, which created some of the fans' earliest memories. Nostalgia certainly kicks in!
Unfortunately, there's a twist. The remakes of Pokémon Red and Green, which will be called Pokémon FireRed and Pokémon LeafGreen respectively, have been listed for USD$20 each. In other words, players who want both titles will have to spend USD$40.

This has created a mix of feelings among the Pokémon fans. Some believe the price is reasonable, considering the remakes allow OG fans to re-experience the two classic titles. On the other hand, a lot of members in the Pokémon community have already complained about the prices, especially considering no enhancements or improvements have been made.
To top it off, a lot of people have complained about Pokémon FireRed and Pokémon LeafGreen to not be added in the already-existing library of Game Boy Advance titles for having a Nintendo Switch online subscription. Why wouldn't these be added if they are Game Boy Advance games? That, only Nintendo knows.
Be as it may, the truth is that the release of remakes for Pokémon Red and Green has got the majority of the community highly excited for what's to come. The expectations are now incredibly high as we approach Pokémon's 30th anniversary.
