One thing players are extremely angry about is the fact that PlayStation will stop producing physical discs for new games in January 2028. Though the majority of PlayStation games are sold digitally, there is still a community of players who support the production of physical discs. Some gamers even signed a Change.org petition in an attempt to change Sony's decision.

Though not mentioned in the organizer's statement, the PlayStation Blackout was announced during the PSN outage, which could have also spurred the decision.

When Is the PlayStation Blackout?

The PlayStation Blackout will start on August 23 (Sunday) at 7:00 PM local time. It will last one week and will end on August 30 (Sunday) at 7:00 PM local time.

During this time period, gamers are encouraged to turn off their consoles and/or log out for seven days. For the whole week, it's encouraged not to play any PlayStation games or open your consoles at all.
