Palworld might not be the same sensation it was last year, but the game still has a loyal following and more exciting updates to come. Its recent crossover with Terraria was good enough to make the game do well on the Steam charts again. Valve liked this update so much that they decided to give this survival sim their coveted Steam Deck Verified rating.

Originally being marked as “Unsupported” before getting the “Playable” rating, it’s been a trip seeing this game earn the verified badge. While it doesn’t mean much to players who tinker with games, those who want an instant on-the-go experience can rely on this rating for immediate play time. After all, not all gamers are willing to tinker with the Steam Deck's settings and protons just to get a game working.

Gaming on Linux has said that there’s one minor flaw with Palworld’s Steam Deck Verified rating. Despite being verified, the game doesn’t automatically map itself into controller mode, which is slightly concerning for a title that’s “verified.” At the least, players can easily change that in the game’s quick access menu, but it should still be automatic if the game is indeed “verified.”

Still, this is a game that many players have enjoyed using on Valve’s Steam Deck and other PC handhelds. Despite not playing like Pokemon, it's very much Pokemon-coded, and the appeal of seeing these creatures with guns is why this game became so popular in the first place. While some lawsuits from The Pokemon Company and Nintendo have derailed its momentum a bit, fans are still looking forward to future updates from this game.

Now that Palworld is verified on the Steam Deck, it will be interesting to see if the game ever comes to Switch 2. The ongoing lawsuit seemingly prevents that from happening, but money can heal all wounds. Only time will tell if that ever happens, but fans can always hope for it.
