3 months after its successful release, Color Gray Games and Playstack unveils new information about their upcoming DLC for Rise of the Golden Idol. Their deductive-reasoning puzzle game inspired by Lucas Pope’s Return of the Obra Dinn.
The DLC is set to arrive sometime this March and will feature four new cases that potentially takes place after the events of the base game.
Titled “The Sins of New Wells,” this four-episode DLC puts players once again into an investigative journey. The DLC follows an unnamed homicide detective and his partner, Cliff Savea, investigating a series of brutal crimes all caused by Lemurian Magic, in-line with the game’s strange supernatural relic of the Golden Idol.
Rise of the Golden Idol is the sequel to the cult-favorite detective puzzle game developed by two Latvian brothers Ernests and Andrejs Kļaviņš. The sequel gave rise to the game’s seemingly unexpected popularity, made possible by its dedicated community giving positive word of mouth to the game’s premise. An interview by Jason Schreier of Bloomberg discussed the series’ creation, as well as insights as to their reasoning behind this bizarre indie title.
The sequel, as well as the first game, The Case of the Golden Idol received positive acclaim from players and critics alike. They praised the game’s complex narrative and mind-boggling cases that always encourages them to think outside the box. This chapter will be available on PC, console and mobile next month and will cost $5.99 | £4.99 | €4.89. Players who already owned the Season Pass need not worry about any additional purchase as it is automatically added to their library once the DLC launches.
