No Man's Sky is getting a major update to celebrate its 10th anniversary.
Hello Games founder Sean Murray teased the update, titled Cosmos, on social media ahead of its highly anticipated arrival. No Man's Sky was released in 2016, and while it received a lackluster reception at first, various post-launch QoL updates have since established it as one of the most beloved open-world space games.
Cosmos, just like previous content updates, will be free for all players to enjoy. Here's what else we know so far!
Free Cosmos Update to Celebrate No Man's Sky Anniversary
Murray took to his social media accounts to confirm the upcoming release of Cosmos, the latest No Man's Sky update that will celebrate the game's 10th anniversary.

Since launch, No Man's Sky has dropped over 40 major updates, with every single one of them releasing free of charge for players. In a recent blog post with PlayStation, Murray touched on the free patches, stating, "With now 40 major updates, all free, we have expanded our sandbox universe with base-building, exocraft, settlements, mechs, pets, living ships, expeditions, and rebuilt the universe several times over."
While No Man's Sky retails for $59.99, it's notably steered clear from releasing paid DLCs. In an interview with GamesRadar, Murray said he doesn't care how much money they could have made with DLCs, as he is determined to keep updates free.

He stated, "What I know is that I really, really enjoy – and I think the team really gets a kick out of – working on an update and knowing that what I'm working on, everyone is going to experience this. Every player that we have is going to experience this. And I think we really enjoy the journey, and the journey is only possible because every update compounds."
