Pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 are set to go live on April 9, according to documents obtained by Insider Gaming.

The documents were provided by a large US retailer, which is expecting an immediate sell-out of the Switch 2 when pre-orders open due to Nintendo's limited unit allocation.

Additionally, the documents also reveal that the Switch 2 is scheduled to release in June.

Per Insider Gaming, the documents mention advertisement strategies that will seemingly be used following the Direct, including a "Pre-Order Coming Soon" message and a Countdown Clock that will end on April 9, with an exact time to be confirmed by Nintendo on April 2.

It's said the documents also include details on an exclusive collectible coin for those who pre-order the hybrid console.

This latest development comes after Best Buy Canada previously stated that pre-orders would start on the same day as the Switch 2 Direct event on April 2. However, documents from the US retailer state pre-orders will begin one week after the Nintendo Switch 2 direct.

It remains unclear whether or not Best Buy Canada's blog post regarding pre-orders was incorrect, although the company swiftly deleted the information after it started to circulate online.

What is clear, though, is that pre-orders are almost certain to commence within a week of the Direct event, where Nintendo will offer a closer look at the Switch 2 and its features.

When the Switch 2 does eventually release, it will kickstart Nintendo's three-phase launch plan, which will reportedly consist of Nintendo-published titles and plenty of third-party releases.
