  • Quick Answer: Bringing Animal Crossing: Wild World to Switch via NSO would restore classic villager dialogue depth and capture nostalgia that New Horizons missed.

As a Nintendo kid, Animal Crossing is hands-down one of my favorite game franchises of all time.

I've played every single Animal Crossing game, and yes, that includes Amiibo Festival. From the entire AC collection, my all-time favorite installment is Wild World. I love the sassy villager dialogue, the K.K. Slider Nights, and Dr. Shrunk's random encounters.

After my DS Lite broke, by the hands of my younger sister, no less, I haven't been able to replay Wild World. But with more retro games receiving Switch ports, I can't help but yearn for the day it gets one too.

Nintendo, Please Add Animal Crossing: Wild World to the Switch

Now, let me be clear. I was fond of New Horizons, especially during the pandemic. I was one of those people who grinded for a 5-star island, spending hours terraforming and designing patterns. However, I soon grew tired of it - I couldn't just keep decorating. Plus, the dialogue with the villagers felt... lackluster.

But Wild World was different. The villagers were interesting, and the NPCs actually had lore. Logging in every day felt rewarding, unlike New Horizons, which soon felt like a chore.

I can't help but wish for a Switch port of Wild World. I miss having neighbors who actually have... depth. Opinions. Snappy comeback. I'd prefer that way more than villagers that serve as decorative assets that suit my island's aesthetic.

I grew up playing plenty of handheld Nintendo games, and Wild World was my absolute favorite. It was a game that focused on community and charm over just customization. It's something I wish we got in New Horizons - but it isn't too late for Nintendo to add it to the Switch.

The NSO subscription is home to a large library of retro games, from Mario to Genesis. But no Animal Crossing game yet. Wild World would be a great game to include in NSO. It's a game that resonated with a generation. If added to NSO, I do not doubt that a wave of resubscriptions from nostalgic gamers will arise. Plus, it would be great for Nintendo to test the waters for dual-screen UI.

Life sims are all the rage, and Wild World (or Animal Crossing as a whole) is the blueprint. If Nintendo wants to bank on nostalgia and people's love for cozy games, they should add Wild World to the Switch ASAP.
