Nexus Mods Founder Steps Down, New Leadership Takes Over

Nexus Mods, the popular site for hosting videogame mods, is changing ownership. Founder Robin Scott (more commonly known as Dark0ne) issued a statement saying that he was stepping down from his duties and day-to-day management of the site.

Founded all the way back in 2001, Nexus Mods originally started as an Elder Scrolls: Morrowind fan site. It would evolve into a site that hosted Morrowind mods, later covering all The Elder Scrolls games, and eventually, becoming a hub for all gaming, Nexus Mods.

Why Is Robin Scott Stepping Down From Nexus Mods?

In his statement, Robin Scott stated that the daily management of the site was an extremely rewarding experience. Although, recent and more constant controversies had taken a toll on his mental health, deeming it best for him to step aside and let a new team take full control of the daily operations of Nexus Mods.

I realised that I have been burning out and this started to have an impact on my staff and Nexus Mods as a whole. So, I firmly believe that the best thing for the future of Nexus Mods is for me to step aside and bring in new leadership to steer the business forward with renewed energy to make Nexus Mods the modding community we all truly deserve

In recent months, Nexus Mods has been criticized for constant censorship, with dozens of mods removed as a result. Some of the biggest controversies included the removal of a mod that added the "male/female" option in the Oblivion character creator. Nexus Mods reuploaded the mod, explaining that the original reasoning for its removal was not the content, but the uploader's hateful comments and intent behind the mod.

During the Marvel Rivals launch, a mod that switched Captain America's face to Donald Trump's was also removed. Robin Scott himself responded to this particular issue, explaining that they did the same for one that replaced Cap's head with Joe Biden, saying they wanted to avoid any sort of bias deal with all the "nutjobs" that would come alongside side these types of mods being available.

Robin Scott did not disclose the current owner of the site. However, both Foledinho and Rapsak, who'll take more control over Nexus Mod's daily operations.
