Horror Inc. has officially confirmed that a brand-new Friday the 13th video game is in development.
The big news dropped at San Diego Comic-Con 2025, but with little information to go on, fans are hesitant to get their hopes up just yet.
What Is the Jason Universe and Who’s Behind It?
The Jason Universe is Horror Inc.’s latest move to branch out the franchise, and this project is included.
This includes figures, short content, and now, a long-anticipated sequel game.
According to Robbie Barsamian, VP at Horror Inc., both a new game and movie are top priorities for the team.
He shared that they’re finally able to work on both projects, though full announcements and deals are still pending.
It’s the first time in years that Friday the 13th fans have had a reason to be excited.
What Happened to the Last Game?
Friday the 13th: The Game made a name for itself with its asymmetrical horror format, where one player hunted as Jason and the others tried to escape.
It attracted a cult following early on, but legal trouble over who owned the franchise stalled its growth.
By the end of 2023, the game was delisted, and online servers were officially shut down at the close of 2024.
It left fans with nothing but offline bots, and the developer, IllFonic, soon laid off part of its team as they shifted away from the project entirely.
What Details Have Been Confirmed So Far?
Horror Inc. finally has a firmer grip on the IP and is moving things forward themselves, but even with the new game confirmed, we still don’t know what to expect.
There’s no confirmed studio, gameplay footage, release window, or even a title.
In fact, Barsamian gave no indication as to whether this game will follow the multiplayer structure of the last title or take a different route altogether.
That vagueness has been frustrating for many, especially considering how long fans have waited for Jason’s return.
