GTA 6 fans were bummed out when Rockstar Games announced the game’s delay, though many thought it was inevitable. After Red Dead Redemption 2 received multiple delays, some gamers morbidly expected this. While this is already bad for console players, this will be worse for PC players, since the port will now take even longer.
Because of this delay, our hearts go out to the GTA 6 PC fans who have to wait longer for the game. Whether it’s regular gamers who just want to play it or "gooners" who want to mod Lucia or Jason, know that we’re thinking of you. Not that much, mind you, but a small, little sad thought.
Rockstar Games is notoriously bad with PC ports of their games, as they prioritize console gaming first. This has been the case since GTA games were released on PS2, but fans thought the company would be quicker with PC ports eventually. Granted, they just released the first Red Dead Redemption on PC, after it was ported to Switch and PS4, so maybe those hopes were misplaced.
What makes the console priority odd is that Rockstar’s PC community is very active and vocal. They play GTA Online constantly, mod various parts of this game, and so much more. You would think that Rockstar would finally show this community some love with a simultaneous release on all platforms.
PC players can take solace in the fact that their port of GTA 6 will likely be uncapped and uncompromised. Rumors have claimed that this game is going to be 30 FPS at launch, so the PC version might be able to uncapped that at 60 FPS. Then again, based on the footage, PC players will need a really strong gaming rig in order to play this open-world title.
If the game does get delayed another time, PC players will at least have to wait alongside their console friends. Don’t get us wrong, we don’t want Rockstar Games to rush this title at all, but it is sad how long this game has taken to make. No game should be rushed to release, but we do think over a decade of development is a bit much.
Then again, PlayStation also takes too long with their exclusives, so this could be a common thing with AAA games moving forward.
Only time will tell if GTA 6 is going to live up to everyone’s expectations when it comes out next May. Not all games can live up to the hype, but this was has had so much time that people can’t help but be excited. As long as it’s fun, this shouldn’t be an issue.
