One reason why fans prefer the Nintendo Switch over other PC handhelds is the different colors available. There are plenty of colors to choose from, whether it’s the Switch OLED, V2, or Lite. Many thought Valve’s Steam Deck would finally release new colors after the White OLED, but the MSI Claw A8 has beaten them to it.
MSI showed off the colors for their upcoming A8 Z2E model, and they all look great. It’s weird seeing the MSI Claw A8 beat Valve’s Steam Deck in this regard, but it’s happened. We’re still hoping for Deck colors in the future, but these MSI colors are pretty tempting.
Fans of these handhelds have acknowledged how strong the Claw is, though they still prefer Valve’s Steam Deck or the ROG Ally over it. The first MSI Claw had issues and didn’t get better until updates made it a more reliable handheld. It’s follow-up system, the MSI Claw AI, was received better and was stronger, but its weak battery and off-putting colors didn’t win people over.
We don’t know if the MSI Claw A8 Z2E model is going to be much better, but they’re already beating Valve and ROG in terms of variety. Different colors sell, because people have different tastes and they want something that matches their personalities more. Although the Steam Deck and ROG Ally look sleek, they just aren’t that visually interesting.
The Steam Deck is technically a better choice since it’s the most gamer-friendly out of all these PC handhelds. Sure, fans occasionally have to switch protons or wait for updates, but it’s still pretty pick up and play when compared to its competition. Things might change now that Valve is letting other handhelds use Steam OS, but it all started with the Deck.
Regardless, we approve of all these colors from the MSI Claw A8 and think Valve needs to step up with their color choices. They don’t even have to be OLED models, just give fans variety and they will be happy.
