Tired of seeing the same Artian weapon in Monster Hunter Wilds? You're in luck, Capcom has finally added Layered Weapons to the game, five months after launch.
Alongside Lagiacrus and Seregios, Title Update 2 brings a wave of fresh content for players, including increased difficulty and more grind. But most importantly, it reintroduces weapon transmog.
What are Layered Weapons?
Layered Weapons are essentially transmog for Monster Hunter Wilds.
They’re a purely cosmetic quality-of-life feature that lets players apply any weapon skin they want without affecting the stats of their currently equipped weapon. It's perfect for covering up the rather uninspired look of the Artian weapons, which are among the least visually appealing designs the series has seen in a while.
How to Craft Layered Weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds
To craft a Layered Weapon, you’ll need to forge every tier of that weapon tree at the Smithy with Gemma.
You must complete the entire progression path, from the lowest rarity up to the final version. For example, if you want to use the Seregios Hammer as a transmog skin, you’ll need to craft all of its versions from start to finish.
How to Equip Layered Weapons
Once you’ve completed all the tiers of the weapon with Gemma, head to your Tent at Base Camp and select Equipment Appearance.
Just like with Layered Armor, this menu allows you to customize your look. Instead of selecting the Armor section, go to Weapon Appearance and choose the skin you want to apply.
