Located in the Dragontorch Shrine, the final boss of Monster Hunter Wilds awaits. Zoh Shia is an imposing, dragon-like construct adorned with crystals and boasting a featureless face.
As the first final boss of the game, prepare for a battle like no other. But don't panic! In this guide, we'll cover the essentials to help you conquer this beast.
Zoh Shia Weaknesses
Defeating Zoh Shia is the last mission in the Main Story. But the final boss won’t make it easy for you to get that High Rank.
Zoh Shia is heavily integrated into the storyline, which means defeating the giant construct is a one-time deal.
First things first: don’t forget to bring lots of potions. Stock up on Mega Potions if you must! Next, cook meals and consume stat-boosting items to raise your defense, stamina, and health, among others. Zoh Shia will tear you apart if you’re squishy and drain your stamina fast with all the dodging you must do.
The Dragon Element is the only type that works effectively against Zoh Shia. Bring Dragon Ammo and Dragon Pods to take full advantage of this weakness. Additionally, the final boss is vulnerable to several status ailments, including Poison, Sleep, Paralysis, and Blastblight, so incorporate them into your strategy.
However, Exhaust is ineffective, along with Flash Pods, Sonic Bombs, Shock Traps, and Pitfall Traps. Don't forget to bring Earplugs and Nulberries because you’ll need them.
Zoh Shia has no weak points. But you can break its head, wings, and forelegs and sever its tail.
Zoh Shia Attacks
The crystals on Zoh Shia’s body aren’t just for show as they serve as a protective layer around the final boss. As you land significant blows, this layer will gradually wear off, exposing susceptible areas. Seize every chance to hit the exposed parts nonstop as the protective layer can regenerate. Literally, throw everything including the kitchen sink!
Despite being a construct, Zoh Shia can roar and that’s what the earplugs are for. Without those, you’ll be immobilized! Meanwhile, Windproof skills will mitigate wind pressure in the fight.
Serving as the final boss, Zoh Shia will use iconic AOE attacks at certain phases of the battle, such as:
- Creating cracks on the ground after flying away from you. Dodge the cracks to avoid damage.
- Spitting fireballs as numerous rocks appear from out of nowhere. Take cover while keeping the camera pointed upward to see if any projectiles are heading your way.
- Covering the ground with molten lava. Mount up and get behind the monster quickly.
- Casting lightning strikes while doing fire and ice attacks. Keep your distance and take cover.
Zoh Shia can also induce Fireblight and Thunderblight status ailments on you. Fireblight temporarily depletes your health while Thunderblight makes you more vulnerable to stun. Nulberries, Fire Resistance, Blight Resistance, and Thunder Resistance will be handy here.
Item Drops
Right now, upon defeating Zoh Shia, you won't get any exclusive drops. Instead, you’re rewarded with Guardian-related items like Guardian Scale, Guardian Blood, and Tough Guardian Bone.
