Monopoly Go is heading to a galaxy far, far away, as they have announced a new Star Wars crossover. This collaboration will add plenty of characters and areas from the iconic franchise, giving players a ton of content to play through. It’s a pretty appropriate crossover, since it’s May and fans love to celebrate the series on May 4.
According to Variety, this crossover will bring over plenty of elements from the franchise, including those classic movies and modern shows like The Mandalorian. Players won’t have to wait too long for the event, as it’s set to begin this coming Thursday on May 8. It's a slight shame that they didn’t have this start on May 4, but it’s not the end of the world.
Victor Diaz-Roig, the president of Monopoly Go publisher Scopely, had this to say about the crossover:
“In bringing ‘Star Wars’ into ‘Monopoly Go!,’ the talented game-making team at Scopely set out to create a collaboration that is visually stunning, rich in storytelling, and filled with thrilling gameplay that captures the essence of both franchises. From iconic characters and eras to the themes that have made ‘Star Wars’ a cultural touchstone, we worked to craft an experience that feels original and unexpected, while staying true to the creativity and artistry of ‘Monopoly Go!’”
Monopoly Go is a free-to-play game, though there are in-game items that can be bought with money. The crossover with Star Wars starts this coming Thursday, on May 8.
