- Quick Answer: Check out the features and performance of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 on the Nintendo Switch 2, including crossplay and beta information.
It’s been well over a decade since we had a Call of Duty game on a Nintendo platform. That’s changing with the upcoming COD Modern Warfare 4, which will hit Nintendo Switch 2 alongside PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC on October 23.
The early access beta period for those who pre-order the full game just kicked off on August 21 and will be running until August 25. While the Switch 2 version isn’t part of the period, with those interested will have to wait until the open beta on August 28; a few content creators have had access to the port — it’s looking real good.
Quite some previews went up, so I encourage you to check them out. The one that piqued my interest the most was the one done by YouTuber BoTalksGames, who uploaded two separate videos going over performance and showcasing general MW4 gameplay on Nintendo’s hybrid system, both docked and in handheld mode.

Of course, we still don’t have the full technical rundown of how well it runs, as BoTalks mostly focuses on showing off that the game does indeed run smoothly. Yes, it does appear to be a steady 60FPS with the occasional framerate dip in specific circumstances outside gameplay.
On top of that, we got a lot in the settings, confirming for those skeptical that the Switch 2 version will support Joy-Con mouse controls, as well as having gyro controls. Overall, it’s clear this isn’t a downgrade in terms of features, being the complete package, similar to the ports on other platforms.
The only compromise is on the graphical aspect. But after seeing BoTalks do a match in handheld mode, I have to commend the developers for how stable and impressive this port is. The dynamic resolution does kick in very noticeably, but having it perform at a crisp, stable framerate is incredible, especially since Modern Warfare 4 on Switch features crossplay.
You’ll have your chance to enjoy the Switch 2 version of COD Modern Warfare 4 during the open beta on August 28. The full release is slated to hit retail and digital shelves on October 23 for Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
