Metro 2039, the fifth entry in the post-apocalyptic shooter from 4A Games and the sequel to Metro Exodus, finally has a release date.
The title was originally announced back in April of this year, and the developer announced at the latest State of Play that it will release on Thursday, February 4, 2027, for all platforms.
A new trailer was also released during the presentation, showcasing how the game will look when running on the PS5 Pro. You can watch it below:
The trailer shows the game's new protagonist, The Stranger, after leaving the underground tunnels and venturing into the destroyed, post-apocalyptic city of Moscow.
He is on a quest to find the Novoreich fortress located inside a nearby dam. However, we see fairly quickly that the radiation and threats hiding inside the apartment buildings pose a huge threat.
The studio confirmed on its social media accounts that the game will feature a performance mode capable of running at 60 FPS for the PlayStation 5, the PlayStation 5 Pro, and the Xbox Series X. This mode will also support ray tracing, as the studio brought over its learnings from the Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition released in 2021, since that version offered 60 FPS support with Ray Tracing on the base PS5.
