With multiplayer shooters starting to blend in together, it’s good to see Mecha BREAK do something slightly unique. Filling this genre with Gundam-like mechs to fight and shoot sounds basic, but it’s mostly unexplored territory within the genre. This game might be a black sheep title, and players will be able to play it on the go.

GamingOnLinux has confirmed that Mecha BREAK is going to be Steam Deck Verified at launch. Considering how multiplayer games can be finicky on the PC handheld, this is very good news. Normally, fans would scoff at the “Verified” rating, but that all changes with these multiplayer shooters.

Although there are a number of playable multiplayer shooters on Valve’s Steam Deck, there’s just as much that can’t be activated due to Linux. This software is lacking in Anti-Cheat software that most publishers prefer, hence, some games lose their playability on the system. Many fans miss playing Apex Legends on the Deck, as EA removed its playability for this exact reason.

Even if Mecha BREAK isn’t the first multiplayer shooter to work on the Deck, it’s still good to know that fans will have the chance to enjoy this wherever they go, assuming they have internet. It might not sound ideal, but these multiplayer titles can be a great way to blow off some steam, no pun intended. Plus, who doesn’t want to take these mechs with them on outdoor gaming sessions?

Fans will be able to experience this mech-filled multiplayer shooter soon, so it’s good to know it will be playable on more platforms. Like Marvel Rivals and other multiplayer shooters, they’re mostly on current-gen systems now, so seeing the Steam Deck have a place amongst them is nice. Here’s hoping that other devs treat Valve’s handheld similarly for future releases, at least until the Steam Deck 2 comes out.
