Arc System Works has swiftly responded to the wave of criticism the studio received following the poor PC optimization of Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, bowing to fix the issues that plagued the port during the open beta.

Tokon is right around the corner, releasing this August 6, so ArcSys will be working around the clock to make the game work as intended come launch. I spent quite some time with the beta during the weekend and can attest to how poorly the PC port ran, ruining the experience even for those enjoying the game on PS5, as it severely impacted Tokon’s rollback netcode.

In a post via the official Marvel Tokon social media account, Arc System Works revealed they are planning on working out the following issues by day one of release:

  • Reducing overall CPU usage to improve performance.
  • Fixing frame rate drops and lag.
  • Resolving an issue causing unnecessary shader compilation at startup.
  • Improving compatibility when streaming with OBS and Discord.
  • Addressing rollback netcode and cross-play issues.

It’s good to see they’re improving the PC version of the game, as it’ll likely be the most popular way of playing Marvel Tokon, even if tournament will still be running on the console version.

Part of why Tokon ran so poorly is because the requirements to run it were rather steep. Hopefully, ArcSys reducing CPU usage means more rigs can properly run the game without any issues.
