Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is set to receive its first DLC character, Phoenix Cyclops, this upcoming November 2. After what seemed like an endless wait, Arc System Works finally revealed gameplay, and it looks incredible.
It’s no secret that ArcSys always has incredibly polished and flashy animations, and they clearly went all out with Scott Summers. He has his classic optic blast projectiles, yes, but also a ton of movement based off his Phoenix transformation, which is directly inspired by the 2012 Avengers vs. X-Men storyline.
The Phoenix Force is more than just a neat way to differentiate this version of Scott from the ones we know and love in other fighting games like Marvel vs. Capcom 2. In Marvel Tōkon, he has access to a special meter that, upon filling it, gives him access to an install that powers up all of his moves and supers.

If you love the classic Cyclops, ArcSys made an absolute love letter of a costume for his iconic look. Similar to the alternate costumes of Captain America and Iron Man, it’ll have a normal Tōkon look and one with the ‘Legacy’ shader on, which adds a comic-book style to the fit.
