- Quick Answer: Arc System Works is addressing critical gameplay issues in Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, including input registration and Assist cooldowns, with detailed plans for 2026.
Arc System Works has vowed to fix a lot of the issues Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is facing, from more granular problems like inputs not registering properly to PC optimization preventing a huge portion of the community from enjoying the game.
In a detailed dev blog posted on September 14, game director Sekine laid out a course of action ArcSys will take during the remainder of 2026 to steer Marvel Tōkon in the right direction. Sekine stated:
“Seeing the game’s content so positively received, with players enjoying the experience and feeling inspired to keep playing, has been a tremendous source of joy for the entire development team. However, we also recognize that the launch period was impacted by stability issues on PC, and we sincerely apologize for the frustration this has caused our players. It was never our intention for players to be unable to enjoy the game as we envisioned, and we are currently making progress on improvements to the PC version so that everyone can enjoy the game to the fullest.”
So, what’s being fixed? In short:
- Input response
- Frequent Assists and Tags
Input response is a huge deal in Tōkon, as many players report that certain motions simply don’t come out even when correctly inputting them. This could be because there’s little time to buffer them, or the input reader itself isn't working as intended.

ArcSys explains that there is currently a six-frame input buffer when holding a button. The studio intends to adjust how inputs are handled so that a new action can be performed even if the button isn’t held down.
As for Assist cooldowns, the developers intend to work around the current issues—which make neutral feel like a complete car crash—by increasing the cooldown time for certain Assists and Switches. While they still want moments of chaos, efforts will be made to render them visually clearer and less constant.
While many players also want buffs and nerfs to specific characters, ArcSys confirmed players shouldn't expect proper balance changes in the coming months. The team wants to implement general gameplay mechanics and let them evolve before tweaking individual heroes and villains.
