Recently, Marvel Rivals announced new improvements for the upcoming Season 3.5, which is expected to launch this August 8. The update highlights several changes, including new team-ups for iconic heroes and, more importantly, stricter punishments for players who fail to take competitive play seriously.

Marvel Rivals creative director Guangguang stated that harsher penalties will be enforced for players who quit Ranked Matches early. These penalties will include longer bans once sanctions are triggered and increased point deductions. Additionally, NetEase will also employ a stricter voice chat feature that is monitored by a human team. Players found to be toxic in voice chat will be met with a penalty.

The goal is to reduce the number of toxic leavers and address those who consistently bring down team morale with their poor behavior.

The good news is that while leavers face heavier consequences, players who stay in the match until the end will be rewarded with an extra point. This small change helps make Ranked Matches feel fairer and more engaging, so a single toxic player can’t decide the outcome of a game. Now, more players have the chance to rank up without constantly worrying about a teammate abandoning the team. Players who face unavoidable system issues like crashes and power failures need not worry, as NetEase will personally review them.

Surrender votes will also require one less member, making it much easier to call it quits before things get rough.

Season 3.5 will also introduce a new playable character: Blade and the "Throne of Knull" as the new map. The Daywalker will finally make his debut in Marvel Rivals after months of speculation and fan theories. He’ll be a Duelist, capable of diving into enemies with his vampiric powers. A master of mid to close-range combat, Blade uses his Ancestral Sword and firearms to close gaps and cut down enemies with precision.

Team-up mechanics are also getting a major update. Two new team-ups will be introduced. The first is Duality Dance, where Luna Snow connects with Adam Warlock’s cosmic energy, allowing her to latch onto nearby enemies and convert incoming damage into healing. The second is Vibrant Vitality, where Mantis channels life energy into Loki and Groot. Loki’s lamps will now boost nearby allies’ stats, while Groot’s walls will heal teammates standing close to them.

Season 3.5 will also bring a new game mode called Resource Rumble, though specific details have yet to be revealed.
