Despite NetEase bringing the highly popular free-to-play hero shooter Marvel Rivals to last-gen consoles with a PlayStation 4 port, it's clear that users are getting a subpar experience. Yet another proof of that is the fact that the highly anticipated PvE mode Marvel Zombies is not playable on PS4.
Why Is Marvel Zombies Mode Not On PS4?
Confirmed by NetEase itself via a blog post, the developers simply stated that the omission was in response to unspecified "performance issues".
By taking a peek at the gameplay, it's understandable that the 12-year-old platform simply can't handle the amount of rendered characters, including playable and enemies alike, as it can get pretty hectic at times.
It is a shame that such compromises have to exist, essentially making the port an even worse version of the game. For those out of the loop, Marvel Rivals was just released on PS4 this past September 12. NetEase stated that base PS4 could output the game at a 1080p resolution while running at 30FPS, with the Pro managing an impressive 1440p at 60FPS. The reality was much different, with the base and slim versions suffering optimization and performance issues.
NetEase has bowed to fix these issues, but for the time being, the massive install base that the PlayStation 4 ecosystem offers Marvel Rivals will continue to play a much worse version of the game.
