Several X-Men have been found by Marvel Rivals dataminers. From Beast to Nightcrawler, and one of those heroes that have also been found is Colossus a.k.a. Piotr Rasputin a.k.a. Magik’s brother.
While we have no clue when he’s going to drop in the game, a new featurette from Rivals may have given us our first glimpse of Wolverine’s original ‘Fastball Special’ partner.
Shadow of the Colossus
NetEase has just dropped a feature looking into the art style and vision for Marvel Rivals, and Rivals leaker @X0X_LEAK has spotted what could be concept art for Colossus. Check this out:
Specifically, it happens at 10:47 of the released video:
For context, Colossus has the ability to turn his entire body into metal, and has been teased as a Vanguard for the game. Should he ever be playable, a lot expect him to have some kind of team-up with Magik, seeing that they’re siblings. If anything, more comic fans are expecting a team-up with Wolverine.
While no official announcement has been made for Colossus, he is one of several leaked X-Men characters that data miners have spotted in the game files before. Besides him and other X-Men that I’ve mentioned, there were also leaks for Professor X, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Rogue, Gambit, Jubilee, and Deadpool (if you count him).
A False Alarm?
While a lot of people already got excited about Colossus coming to the game, a fan had pointed out that the knee in the photo may just be a reference image and may not even be official concept art.
That being said, if it’s going to be an image on the screen of an artist working on the game, it could give a hint as to what Colossus may look like in Marvel Rivals.
The game hasn’t been shy of giving its own original spin on characters (dubbed the GUI Style), but there are still some elements from classic designs that make their way into the Marvel Rivals look like Magneto’s helmet or Captain America’s helmet ‘wings’.
Maybe Colossus is going to keep his kneepads from his comic costume? Or are they working on it as a comic-inspired cosmetic? We’ll just have to wait and see.
Marvel Rivals is now playable for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC.
