Are you excited about the launch of Mario Kart World alongside the Switch 2? Then, let's break down everything you need to know about it.
The April 2 Nintendo Switch 2 Direct finally put a spotlight on the previously teased new Mario Kart entry. Subsequent Treehouse streams gave fans even more details as to what they can expect when the next mainline title in the franchise drops later this year.
So, if you're overwhelmed by the amount of information thrown your way, fret not. We've compiled everything you should be aware of ahead of the Mario Kart World release.
Mario Kart World Release Date and Cost
Mario Kart World will be released at the same time as the Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5. As for the cost, it really depends on your region. For the sake of clarity, we'll use only official prices listed on Nintendo's website.
For the United States, the only price listed is $80. It does not specify if it's the digital or physical version but we'll update as soon as we know anything.
In the UK, The game will retail for £66.99 (digital) and £74.99 (physical). In the rest of Europe, the price will be 79,99 € (digital) and 89,99 € (physical)
Mario Kart World Modes
The game will ship with three unique modes. One thing we should get out of the way is that for the battle mode enthusiasts, it seems Mario Kart World won't have one, at least initially.
With that said, the three modes are:
- Grand Prix: The Mario Kart staple. The added gimmick with World involves you racing from one track to another as part of the event
- Knockout: A battle royale mode. You'll race across multiple tracks with each one having checkpoints that eliminate the worse-performing players until there's only one left.
- Free Roam: Fully explore the entire interconnected Mario Kart World stress-free

World will feature plenty of Cups, rallies and dozens of courses, both new and previously seen ones adapted to fit into the open world. Through gameplay footage, these are all the Grand Prix Cups and Courses confirmed to be in the game.

Mario Kart World Customization
Details about customization are still surface-level. But we do know at least two things: characters will have different outfits, some available mid-race, and individual customization for vehicles is gone. Instead, you'll pick from different preset vehicles.
And that's pretty much all we know about Mario Kart World at this time. We still have a Mario Kart Direct this April 18 that will give fans even more information so stay tuned for that as we'll update the guide to make it your perfect hub.
