Battlefield 6 is one of the most anticipated releases coming out this year, especially after that reveal trailer. After games like 2042 and V let fans down, this new entry looks like a proper return to form. But is that enough to keep this franchise relevant, even for a bit longer?

With games like Fortnite, Apex Legends, and Marvel Rivals dominating the online multiplayer scene, it will be interesting to see if the EA shooter can stand out. This game also has to compete with Activision’s Call of Duty series, which is getting Black Ops 7 later in the year.

Although everything we’ve seen in Battlefield 6’s cinematic trailer looks promising, can the shooter stand out in a crowded market like this? The game is going back to its roots, so plenty of destructible environments and vehicles, but is that enough to keep fans playing?

The Online Battlefield

Like we mentioned before, EA’s legacy shooter has plenty of competition these days. Call of Duty, Fortnite, PUBG, Marvel Rivals, and more, there’s just a ton of online shooters out there these days. Most fans also view Black Ops 7 as this year’s big military shooter, making us wonder if Battlefield 6 can still stand out.

Even though there’s a lot going against EA’s shooter, the return of various vehicles and environments you can break will be nostalgic for many gamers. It was these features that made Battlefield a household name, so going back to that formula after poor attempts at a futuristic setting is a good idea.

We do think fans will enjoy shooting their friends while in a tank or jet fighter. Using a ton of vehicles does separate this game somewhat from the competition. But is that enough to make it rise above the rest? Only time will tell.

Battle Scars

Battlefield 6 has an uphill battle ahead of it, as this entry is going to be the first major one after two duds. Granted, some fans enjoy 2042 and V, but they’re still seen as bad entries by most players. These games suffered from having bad campaigns, poor online, a lack of support, and so much more.

If EA is serious about keeping the Battlefield games relevant, they will need to learn from the mistakes made with previous games. What’s more, the destruction and battle physics in this new entry will have to appeal to both older and newer gamers. Simply put, they have to make the game fun, and that seems more than possible, based on the previous trailer.

The only thing holding Battlefield 6 back is its previous reputation. Let’s hope EA has truly learned from their mistakes, so they can make this entry a quality online shooter once again.
