NetEase is continuing to tease even more Marvel Rivals characters with an in-game lore dump refferecing a "man in red." Of course, fans are getting excited at the possibility of heroes like Daredevil or Deadpool making it into the game.

With NetEase planning to release a new hero every month, a lore update has fans speculating that they could be teasing the next new character after Marvel’s killer AI.

Who Is This Strange Man in Red?

As shared by Miller Ross, a new Squirrel Girl lore entry has Psylocke talking about a ‘strange man in red’ that was hired to find her. Here’s the post:

“[Logan] found his way across time and space, chasing some strange man in red who had been sent to find me. “

For context, the Logan in the story is a Wolverine variant who is a wolf with a healing factor. This was Sai’s companion in the alternate Demon Days universe which imagines Marvel characters in a mythical feudal Japan. There are actually several incoming skins based on the Peach Momoko comic, and it’s likely they’ll release around the time that the comic is released.

Going back to the ‘Strange Man in Red’ though, some are already sure that this could mean Deadpool. Deadpool was one of the leaked characters for the game, and it would make sense that he would have some kind of beef with a Logan variant seeing as the two are kind of universally connected now.

Admittedly, there are several other red characters in Marvel, and some are speculating that the man could be Daredevil, but since we haven’t seen the design for other characters, maybe NetEase could be hinting at Hit-Monkey or Paste Pot Pete/Trapster.

Maybe they could even be hinting at the next big villain (Mephisto?), but for now, Deadpool is the best bet for a ‘strange man in red’.

Change of Plans

Though Marvel Rivals originally planned for Seasons to last for three months, the vast roster of characters has opted for the developers to just shorten them to two months—with a new character releasing every 30 days.

For Season 2 though, it looks like fans will have to wait a little longer for Ultron, but come Season 3—which probably starts around July—fans should expect a steady release of playable heroes. If the leaks were true, then that would mean that NetEase has about two years-worth of characters to keep people interested for a good long while.

Marvel Rivals just launched its second season, and is now playable for Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PS5.
