I Am So Ready for the Rumored Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire & Emerald Switch 2 Ports

One of the first games I've ever played was Pokemon Ruby.

My uncle had gifted me a Game Boy Advance SP alongside a copy of Pokemon Ruby. I was instantly hooked. I had played bits of Red on my older sister's Game Boy Color, but this was the first Pokemon game that was mine. Because of that, it has a special place in my heart.

It's been decades since I last played the game, but it looks like I may be able to play it on the Switch 2 soon.

According to insider Shpeshal Nick on X, Nintendo may be gearing up to release Pokemon Ruby, Emerald, and Sapphire Switch 2 ports in late September or October of this year.

While Nintendo hasn't confirmed the ports, I am already hyped. I can already imagine jumping directly into the Hoenn region and revisiting the chaotic energy I loved from the NPCs in Pokemon's Generation 3 installments.

I am excited for all the games to get ports. I loved Emerald's Battle Frontier and how Sapphire featured Team Aqua as the villains. But Ruby is my absolute king. There was something unmatched about trading overused pirate tropes for Team Magma's land expansion schemes.

Compared to the other two, Ruby also felt like it had bigger stakes. I vividly remember standing in the Cave of Origin against Groudon, watching the map colors change under the harsh sunlight.

Gen 3 defined what Pokemon games should be. Ruby and Sapphire introduced Abilities, while Gen 3 as a whole introduced Character Natures. As THE standard of Pokemon games, it's surprising they're only getting Switch 2 ports now. But better now than never, right?

I'm hoping all the rumors are true, because if they are, I am getting that Nintendo Online Subscription ASAP.
