- Quick Answer: HoYoverse has announced Nodusfall, a dark, co-op action game revealed at Gamescom 2026, which appears to be a significant departure from their previous titles.
Gamescom 2026 kicked off with a rather massive announcement as HoYoverse, the studio behind cutesy anime-inspired gacha games like Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, and Zenless Zone Zero, revealed Nodus Fall, a co-op action game that has more in common with a FromSoftware title, at least aesthetically.
The trailer shown is mostly filled with very impressive cinematics, depicting a perilous world filled with dread and massive creatures like dragons and, err, even bigger dragons engulfed in flames. The few glimpses of gameplay battling these beasts reminded me more of Monster Hunter than anything FromSoft. This could be a case of Hoyo trying to tap into a new market, and while we don’t have full confirmation, this very well could be the studio’s first high-profile non-gacha game.

Then again, players can transform into mightier beings, with characters able to summon these powers seemingly at will. So a gacha component might still be present, just not in the classic Hoyo anime-waifu bait players have come to expect.
Once more information is revealed about the game, we’ll keep you posted as, quite frankly, it does look like something I’m extremely interested in playing. You can check out the trailer below
