One of the biggest quality-of-life improvements in Black Ops 7 Zombies is the addition of permanent perks, which stay with you even if you’re downed.
They don’t transfer between games the way the old Black Ops 2 upgrades did.
They stay active only for your current run, yet the difference they make to your survivability is huge.
Permanent perks keep your setup steady, so a downed moment doesn’t cut your strength in half or drain more of your Essence.
To unlock them, though, you have to complete a pretty specific two-step process that revolves around filling your perk bar and mastering the new T.E.D.D. Tasks system.
How Do You Unlock Every Perk First?
To start, the game requires you to own every single perk available on the map.

There are twelve in total, and each purchase gradually becomes more expensive because every perk machine adds another 500 Essence to the price of the next one.
By the time you build your full lineup, you’ve easily sunk more than sixty thousand Essence just into perk machines.
You can do this through their normal locations or wait until the Der Wunderfizz machine spawns at Janus Towers Plaza beyond Round 20.
Some players shortcut the grind with Perkaholic, but for most runs, you’ll simply buy each perk one at a time until all twelve are sitting in your bar.
Only then does the game consider you “eligible” to earn permanent perks.
When Do T.E.D.D. Tasks Start Appearing?
Once you’ve grabbed every perk, T.E.D.D. Tasks finally start appearing from Round 9 and then return on a four-to-six-round cycle.

The game marks them clearly on your HUD and minimap, and you can even spot their location from across the map because of the swirling portal visual in the sky.
They cost 500 Essence to activate, and the objective varies each time, but the real goal isn’t the task itself—it’s earning the highest performance rating at the end.
The better you do, the better the reward chest that spawns back at your base.
How Do You Get the Highest Reward Tier?
Permanent perks only start appearing when you’re hitting the top chest tier, commonly referred to as the Legendary or Golden level, depending on the source.

At that reward level, the game almost always drops a mystery perk bottle.
Because you already have all twelve perks unlocked, the bottle automatically converts into a permanent perk instead.
You’ll get a side-screen notification confirming the perk that’s now permanent, and it continues to stick with you after every down and revive.
In rare cases, max-rank chests can spit out two of them at once, but it’s usually one per task, meaning you’ll need several challenges to build a full set.
What Happens Once a Perk Becomes Permanent?
When a perk becomes permanent, it completely ignores the usual “lose your perks when you die” rule.

Whether you’re picked up by a teammate or burned a self-revive, those permanent perks don’t vanish the way normal ones do.
This is especially valuable during the Easter Egg or high-round runs, where losing your entire perk setup can break a match instantly.
With permanent perks active, you can get back into the fight without spending thousands of Essence rebuilding your loadout.
One thing to keep in mind is that if all your regular perks are gone and you keep going down, the game will start stripping away your permanent perks one by one.
As long as you keep at least one non-permanent perk active, though, your permanent perks stay safe.
In the end, the permanent perk system is slow but extremely rewarding.
It stabilizes your whole run, makes late-game failures less brutal, and gives you room to take risks without losing everything.
The flow is easy to follow: secure each perk, complete max-rank T.E.D.D. Tasks, open the orange chest at the base, and loop it for big rewards.
