Helldivers 2 is a consistently great game that, unfortunately, doesn’t have the performance to match. While it’s a playable shooter that most fans can enjoy, frame dips and slowdown can detract from the experience, especially when things get intense. Fans have suggested that the team consider DLSS and FSR options, but the devs said other issues are affecting its framerate.

In the game’s Discord, Arrowhead CEO Shams Jorjani said this is a topic the team talks about pretty often. Jorjani confirms that the team does want to add these options in the long run, but vaguely says there are other issues affecting the game’s performance. These issues weren’t listed, but fans are hoping there’s a fix for it in the future.

This is what Jorjani said about the Helldivers 2 performance issues:

"We speak about it often. It's on the wishlist, there are other more fundamental problems that impact performance that we will focus on before DLSS/FSR but it's being discussed."

Fans aren’t too bothered by the online shooter’s performance, as they’re still able to play with their friends and shoot them by accident. It also helps that the game constantly ups the challenges in this title, like making a certain Automaton fly. While performance issues won’t break the fandom, it would be great if they could be resolved.

Both DLSS and FSR have fixed demanding games in the past, which is why fans are hoping to see them in Helldivers 2. The upscaling technology has been a blessing for these PlayStation ports, making powerhouse titles like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and The Last of Us Part 1 play decently on Valve’s Steam Deck. Admittedly, Arrowhead’s shooter is also decent on the Steam Deck, so they might be right about the performance issues coming from a different source.

Even if they aren’t ideal, we don’t expect performance issues to detract from the overall Helldivers 2 experience. Fans will constantly find things to enjoy about the game, and that feeling can’t be easily ruined by frame drops.
