Supergiant Games has dropped a new Major Update for Hades 2. Called The Warsong, this second massive patch for the roguelike brings back a beloved god from the previous games: Ares.
Taking place in almost brand-new locales compared to its predecessor, Hades 2 introduced more Greek gods to the mix, such as Hera, Apollo, or a personal favorite, Hephaestus. A few from the first game were still in the mix, naturally. Sadly, fan favorites were absent or used more sporadically.
The huntress Artemis is a special event rather than a god you can consistently meet during your runs, she's also only available in one of the two distinct paths players can take. Same case for Dionysus and Athena, who are unique events introduced with the Olympus update.
Ares doesn't seem to be a special event of any kind, luckily. In the trailer breaking down everything the new Warsong update brings, you can see Ares' boon logo right next to Melinoe, the game's protagonist.
The Warsong update is more than just a new god. Supergiant Games has added more content to the surface run as well. During the first months of early access, the run ended when players faced off against Eris. Later, with the Olympus update, the developers added a new area that culminated in an epic bout against Prometheus.
There's balance of boons, new artwork and thousands of dialogue added as well. It's a beefy update, making Hades 2 look like it's already on its 1.0 version.
When Is Hades 2 Coming out of Early Access?
Expect Hades 2 to come out of early access and launch on more platforms possibly this year. That said, Supergiant Games has one more Major Update planned before they even think of moving to the 1.0 version of the game.
In any case, those who have already played Hades 2 (myself included) know it will be worth the wait. You can read the full patch notes for The Warsong update on Supergiant's Steam page.
