You can now catch 'em all via Google. Well, not all, but you can add the first 151 Pokémon to a unique Pokédex by using Google Search.
Announced via social media, the Pokémon account revealed a new unique feature in partnership with Google. It will let you search all the original monsters from the Kanto region and add them to a Pokédex available via the search functionality of the browser.
Why was this added? Well, no one really knows. Does it serve a purpose other than wasting time? No, it does not. Is it a fun, cute way to spend some time, maybe during a long commute? Absolutely.
How To Catch Pokémon With Google Search
To give this feature a spin, simply open the Google Search app on your mobile device, whether Android or iOS and tap the name of a Pokémon. It has to be one of the original 151 mons found in the Kanto region.
Once you do this, a small Pokéball will appear at the bottom right of your image. Letting catch the Pokémon you've googled, adding it to your collection.
This feature seems to be available only for mobile users. I've tried to search via my web browser on PC and yielded no results.
What If It's Not Working For You?
So, this feature might not work for you. It might be an issue with your Google account settings, as you need to have personalized options in Google settings enabled.
To do this tap your account icon at the top right of the screen, then open settings, and the option to enable personalized search options should be at the top. If it's already enabled, well, your device might not be compatible.
Overall, seems like a neat side activity to keep Pokémon fans engaged. If you're looking for bigger news, may I suggest you check out news about Gen 10 being a Switch 2 exclusive?
