To close out the latest State of Play, PlayStation Studios and Santa Monica Studio revealed God of War Laufey, the next title in the acclaimed franchise.
The game was previously leaked through insider reports, claiming that it would focus on Faye, Kratos's second wife and mother of Atrios. Turns out the reports were correct, and a 20-minute gameplay was presented to introduce the spin-off.
Deborah Ann-Woll (Daredevil), who previously played Faye in God of War Ragnarok, will reprise the character.
After her death, Faye awakens in the Everywhen, a land where ruthless gods from across mythology are on the lookout for power. The story will see her fighting across the land when she discovers that the plans put in place to protect Kratos and Atreus are at risk.
The cast will also feature Jack Quaid (The Boys) and Perlina Lau (Friday Night Bites). On one hand, Quaid will play a brand-new character called Phranque, a sentient cube that will accompany Faye on her adventure. Lau will play Rue, the guardian of the sword she will use in combat.

Faye will have the Golden Hand of the Jötnar as one of her abilities. With it, she can strike at enemies with her golden palm to detach their souls from their bodies. As explained in the PlayStation blog, Faye's soul-related abilities will be greatly amplified in this new realm.
God of War Laufey will launch exclusively for the PS5, and a release date or window hasn't been revealed at the time of writing. This immediately tells us that we will have to wait until at least the second half of 2027 to play the title.
