Final Fantasy XIV has pulled off some big crossovers, and now it's working with Fujifilm's Instax brand to bring players a different kind of in-game photography.
One of the key features of this partnership is the Photograph emote, which lets players pose as if they're using an Instax instant camera. You get the full effect, from snapping the shot to hearing that signature Instax print noise.
Unlike some past collaborations that required external purchases, this emote will be free for all players as soon as Patch 7.18 goes live—no strings attached. Final Fantasy XIV director Naoki Yoshida first revealed the collaboration at the end of Letter from the Producer Live Part 85, where it was teased alongside other upcoming features in the game's following major updates. To celebrate the collaboration, a special screenshot contest will run from February 27 to March 23, 2025.
During this event, players can submit their best in-game photos and transform them into Instax-style prints using a unique online tool. Sharing their entries on X puts them in a giveaway where 10,000 winners will receive exclusive in-game items. The available prizes include:
- Gaelica
- Great Paraserpent
- Fat Cat Earrings
Details about how to participate, submission guidelines and eligibility requirements will be shared closer to the event's launch. This collaboration is kicking off right before Patch 7.2, Seekers of Eternity, but there's still plenty for players to look forward to in the months ahead. Patch 7.2 is expected to arrive in late March 2025 with:
- New main story quests
- The Arcadion Cruiserweight raid tier
- Shades' Triangle field operation, Occult Crescent – The next large-scale battle zone following in the footsteps of Eureka and Bozja.
- Cosmic Exploration – A new feature for crafters and gatherers that lets them pilot mechs and explore new planets.
The Instax collaboration wraps up just before Patch 7.2, giving players time to save a few last memories before facing what's next.
