That's because, for some reason, EA has decided to implement a shield design for players in the team management UI, and honestly? I can't say I'm a fan of the new look. Unsurprisingly, this has not gone down well with the community, and developers have acknowledged the feedback.
Additionally, a potential game-breaking bug relating to transfers is urgently being investigated just hours after early access went live. Here's what we know!
FC 27 Career Mode Gets Off to a Rough Start
Ah sh*t, here we go again. FC 27 has only just released into Early Access ahead of its worldwide launch on September 25, and Career Mode is already facing heavy criticism.
Several unimpressed players have taken to social media to voice their displeasure over the clunky UI design within the team management menus, while others have shared feedback regarding a major bug that is dampening the experience for many.
Tagging Career Mode Producer Andreas Wilsdorf on social media, one fan said: "I was hoping you'd take the shield off the players by the time the game launches next week!" Another post read: "Can we get that horrible shield off the players in the starting 11? Career mode fans don’t want to be reminded of Ultimate Team."
Responding to the comments, Andreas replied: "We have heard the feedback around the UI. However, how our UI changes work are actually very developer-time-heavy, so a rework - especially since there is also functionality behind the shields is costly, which is why, for release, it wasn't an option since we were focused on the features themselves. We are looking into the UI but can't give a timeline."
Although visually off-putting, the UI design is perhaps a minor issue when compared to a current bug, which is having a negative effect on new Career Mode saves in FC 27.
Several users and content creators, including popular YouTuber MGH, have encountered an issue where players receive a transfer offer and then request to leave the club even if their morale is happy and they are getting regular playtime.
What makes this such a headache is that the bug is directly impacting key players within the team, causing star names to leave your club, or at least try, for no apparent reason.
"Fix the issue that everyone wants to move away from the club when they are happy, getting loads of time and on good form", someone pleaded. Another stated: "Just seen an Arsenal Career Mode where after 2/3 games Saliba, Rice, and Gabriel are all happy yet want to leave. That’s a career mode save killer, not realistic at all."
Once again, Andreas responded to the comments, saying: "We are looking into right now what is causing it. MGH is also part of our Design Council, so I have also talked with him to dig into what could be causing it. Could be interest from top clubs, but could also be a bug. So we are investigating with high priority today."
To be fair to Andreas, he has been very open and transparent with the community, which is great to see, and it's also reassuring to know these issues are actively being investigated. However, for the Career Mode fans out there, including myself, this just feels like another case of Deja vu.
There seem to be several issues, both big and small, every year without fail. What makes it even worse is that some, if not most, players encountering these problems would have paid $99.99 to gain Early Access via the Ultimate Edition and possibly even $149.99 if they purchased the Ultimate Plus Edition.
I actually like some of the changes that have been implemented into Career Mode for FC 27, and I look forward to reviewing the game if and when we receive a code. But as I find myself saying every single year, the fans deserve better.
