Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves had a surprise showing at the September 2026 Nintendo Direct, confirming the game is set to release on Nintendo Switch 2—first digitally on October 22, with a physical edition arriving on January 21.

The Switch 2 has shown it’s capable of running AAA games fairly well, having simultaneous releases for some of the biggest games of the year. In terms of fighting games, Capcom’s Street Fighter 6 has been lauded as a fantastic port, and Arc System Works’ Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising looks to follow suit on September 17, so it makes sense that SNK also worked on a new port of City of the Wolves.

The official press release confirmed the game will include both rollback netcode and crossplay functionality, making this port work on par with the rest, which is a huge plus for those looking to pick it up.

Beyond the announcement of the game itself for Switch 2, a brand-new crossover was also revealed, with Manjiro “Mikey” Sano and Ken “Draken” Ryuguji from Tokyo Revengers arriving as Season 3’s fourth DLC characters. They’ll work as a single fighter, so it’ll be interesting to see them in action. Check out the trailer down below for a small sneak peek.

There will be two versions of the game available on Nintendo’s platform:

  • Standard ($20)
  • Starter Edition ($30): Includes all DLC from Seasons 1–3, including upcoming characters

Beyond that, if you pre-order the game, you’ll be able to get the original Mai Shiranui outfit at no additional cost, regardless of the version you purchase. No word on how players on other platforms will be able to acquire it.
