  • Quick Answer: The Black Ops and Black Ops 2 ports for PS4 (and PS5) are scheduled to arrive in July 2026.

After a few weeks of speculation, Treyarch Studios has finally confirmed that ports of the original Black Ops and Black Ops 2 are coming to the PS4, and, inherently, to the PS5 as well.

The games weren't previously available on those consoles as both were initially launched in the PS3 era, and the PS4 didn't have any sort of retrocompability, unlike the Xbox One. For those who can't wait to go back to those titles, here is everything we know about the port's release date.

Black Ops and Black Ops 2 PS4 and PS5 Release Date

The PS4 (and PS5) ports of Black Ops and Black Ops 2 are scheduled to release in July 2026. A specific release date hasn't been confirmed, which means we will have to wait at least a few weeks to know.

Both games are being ported to the PS4, and PS5 players will be able to enjoy the original titles thanks to its retrocompability. A native PS5 version is not expected since it hasn't been found in the PlayStation database by leakers.

Iron Galaxy is the studio in charge of porting both titles, and they have a ton of experience in the field. They are responsible for porting titles like the Arkham games or The Last of Us to PC, and they also worked on porting Overwatch, Diablo III, Apex Legends, and Skyrim to the Nintendo Switch.

What Modes Will the Black Ops and Black Ops 2 Ports Include?

As confirmed by Treyarch, these will be full ports of the original games, meaning they will include all three major modes: Campaign, Multiplayer, and Zombies.

It is unclear how Activision will manage the online capabilities of both titles or whether new servers will be allocated to them. We also don't know if the ports will include the post-launch DLCs for both games or if those will be sold separately.
