The wait wasn't long since its confirmation, and both Black Ops and Black Ops 2 have finally arrived on the PS4 and PS5. The old Call of Duty titles have been ported to the newer consoles, allowing players to either enjoy a game they haven't tried before or relive their childhood with these two beloved entries in the franchise.

Given that these are only ports of the original titles, neither Black Ops nor Black Ops 2 features crossplay. However, there is a simple trick players can do to play with their friends, regardless of whether they are on a PS4 or a PS5.

How to Play Black Ops and Black Ops 2 Crossplay between PS4 and PS5

First off, you will need to purchase whichever game you want to enjoy with friends, Black Ops or Black Ops 2. The game is only available digitally, so you will have to go to the PlayStation Store, search for the game, and it should then appear on the list.

Those who purchase it on PS5 will see that the game has two versions: the PS4 and the PS5 version. If you want to play with someone using a PlayStation 4, you simply have to install the PS4 version. The PlayStation 5 can run any version without issues due to its backward compatibility.

PS4 players have it easier, as they only have to download the game after purchasing it and don't have to worry about picking the correct version.

Once all parties have the game installed, they can simply go into Multiplayer or Zombies, and invite their friends as they normally would.

Keep in mind that purchasing the base game won't include all the DLC content, as that is available as a separate purchase. Both games have a Season Pass package, which costs $30/30€/26£ and includes all the post-release DLC packs.

Both games are simply ports of the original titles, meaning they don't have any additional content or graphical improvements.
