Beast of Reincarnation has officially released, and the gameplay can be surprisingly difficult.

You play as Emma, humanity's last hope. Set in a post-apocalyptic Japan, you journey with your blighted dog Koo. The game features a mix of real-time action and turn-based combat, which requires you to control Emma, give Koo commands, and parry enemy attacks.

Sounds tough, right? Well, luckily for you, there are varying difficulty options to choose from at any time. Here's all you need to know!

What Are Beast of Reincarnation's Difficulty Settings?

Beast of Reincarnation has three difficulty options: Story Mode, Normal Mode, and Hard Mode.

Story Mode is for those who want to focus on the narrative without difficult combat. Enemies deal far less damage, and the parry timing is more forgiving. There will still be combat, but you won't get one-shot. If, like me, you prefer to pay attention to the story without being challenged, this is the difficulty to choose.

Normal Mode is the intended Beast of Reincarnation experience, with balanced challenges and normal parry timing. You will need to learn enemy attack patterns, rely on Koo, and experiment with your skill tree, armor, and overall build to find the playstyle you like.

Lastly, there's Hard Mode. This is for those who like RPGs with a serious challenge. The parry window is much tighter, and one wrong move could lead to instant death. If you want to experience the game at its toughest, or if you've already played through it on Normal Mode, then this is for you.

How to Change Difficulty Settings in Beast of Reincarnation

You can change the difficulty settings at any time from the in-game Settings menu.

To do so, pause the game and navigate to Settings. From here, select Gameplay and pick which difficulty setting you want to switch to. You need an active session open to change the difficulty, as you are unable to adjust the difficulty settings from the main menu.

Changing your difficulty option doesn't affect the rewards you get as you progress, so don't worry about missing out just because you've shifted to a lower difficulty.
