The Battlefield 6 open beta may have ended, but EA still has plans for its controversial live-service shooter, Battlefield 2042. After leaks claimed that this shooter was getting an enormous update, EA and Battlefield Studios have confirmed that a new Battle Pass is coming to this game. Not only will fans be able to get new content for BF 2042, but they can also gain rewards for BF6 when it comes out in October.
EA is blunt about this huge update being used to advertise Battlefield 6, as the Battle Pass is literally called Road to Battlefield 6. From August 18th until October 7, fans will be able to play the game and unlock brand-new content for BF 2042 and BF6. The best part is that this Battle Pass is free, so players won’t have to spend to get some exclusive rewards. Iwa Jiwa, an iconic Japanese map from the series, has also been remastered for this game.
Here are some of the new weapons and vehicles coming to Battlefield 2042:
REWARDS
- Free Pass: Features over 50 rewards for Battlefield 2042, celebrating the legacy of the franchise.
- Exclusive Battlefield 6 rewards: Over 20 Battlefield 6 rewards available at launch.
New Hardware
- KFS2000: Unlockable on Free Pass
- LYNX Sniper Rifle Open Beta Reward: Players who participated in the Open Beta will receive this weapon
- A10 Warthog and SU-25TM Frogfoot Attack Jets: Coming from the vault

Considering the negative reaction Battlefield 2042 received at release, it’s good to see the game getting updated with new content, even if it's to advertise Battlefield 6. At least, fans now have a reason to try out this controversial shooter and see if it's really that bad. The game was able to get a decent number of fans, so even flawed titles get a second chance at life.
Battlefield 2042 is readily available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC. Fans will be able to pick up Battlefield 6 on October 10 for PS5, Xbox Series, and PC.
