Assassin’s Creed Shadows managed to overcome racist critics and the series’ shortcomings, becoming one of this year’s best games. Fans who have been able to beat this lengthy open-world RPG are now hoping to get some DLC, and it looks like that might happen sooner than we think, as a leak claims the Claws of Awaji DLC is coming…four days after Ghost of Yotei.

Should this leak prove true, Ubisoft is pitting the Assassin’s Creed Shadows Claws of Awaji DLC against Ghost of Yotei. That’s a pretty brave move on the part of Ubisoft, especially since their game has already received flack for being similar to Sucker Punch’s Ghost games.

The original source of the leak is a user on LinkedIn, who posted pictures from their meeting with development and tech teams of Assassin's Creed Shadows and its Claws of Awaji expansion. X user Zephryss has since shared one of the images, which appears to confirm that Claws of Awaji will be coming out on October 6, 2025. Ghost of Yotei is scheduled for release on October 2 of the same year, hence all this anxiety and excitement.

While there are plenty of fans who think the game might be delayed, it seems as if this is going to be the release date unless Ubisoft announces something else. The Ubisoft employee's LinkedIn post is compelling evidence, however, so it will be interesting to see what the final outcome is.

If Ubisoft is pitting Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ DLC against PlayStation’s highly-anticipated Ghost of Yotei, they are ballsier than most people thought. Naturally, fans are mixed about this, with some acknowledging the company’s bravery, while others think it's a dumb idea. Regardless of what fans think, this release date is making both games a hot topic for conversation.

Fans already know that Shadows is a good game, so everyone’s curious about Ghost of Yotei’s quality. Granted, the original Ghost of Tsushima was already a great game and everyone liked it, so Yotei just has to do more of the same to succeed. That’s also been the biggest weakness of PlayStation this generation, mostly relying on sequels and nostalgia outside of Astro Bot, which is arguably both of those problems.

Which one will you be supporting? The Claws of Awaji DLC for Assassin’s Creed Shadows? Or Ghost of Yotei?
