  • Quick Answer: Pokopia will receive the dive move through a free update, and the first paid DLC has been announced.

A new free update for Pokopia was announced in the latest Nintendo Direct, and it will finally introduce one of the key moves missing in the game: Dive.

The move will allow players to go underwater, explore, meet Pokémon, and even provide an easier way to build underwater structures. In fact, players will be capable of creating underwater towns with this. The underwater sandbox will go as far as letting players plant grass to create crops.

As explained in the trailer, players will need to complete the request "Raise the environment level" in Bleak Beach and learn the move "Swim" before they can learn Dive.

This free update will go live sometime in August 2026, and we will have to wait a few more weeks to get a specific release date.

Apart from the update, the first paid DLC, which will be a part of the Expansion Pass, has been announced. It's titled Bubbly Basin, and players won't have to wait for it, as it will also be available in August 2026.

The DLC will add a brand-new underwater town titled Bubbly Basin, as well as new outfits, furniture, and Pokémon that weren't in the game before, like the starter Poplio.

Bubbly Basin is the first out of three DLC coming with the expansion pass. The second part is scheduled to come out in late 2026, and the last one is releasing sometime in 2027.

Players can now purchase the Expansion Pass through the e-shop, which will give them access to all three paid DLC when they come out. Pokémon Pokopia is exclusively available on the Nintendo Switch 2.
