CDL 2020: ACHES LA Guerillas Player Profile For Call of Duty League 2020

Patrick "ACHES" Price is an AR player for the LA Guerillas. The 25-year-old American will feature as part of one the Los Angeles franchises in the Call of Duty League (CDL) 2020 Season.

ACHES is well known for being a two time World Champion in 2014 with compLexity and 2018 with Evil Geniuses.

As a true veteran of the scene, ACHES has been competing since 2007 but it was during the Modern Warfare 2 era that he really registered on the scene. He has recorded 17 offline event wins during his career; earning over $450,000 in the process.

ACHES' History

Modern Warfare 2

ACHES first major team was Leverage, where his partnership with TeePee began. Their first event was the MLG National Championship 2010, finishing second and winning $6,000.

ACHES played in a number of online tournaments during this time with familiar COD veterans such as Clayster, MerK and Scump.

Black Ops 1

Black Ops was a fruitful year for ACHES. It began with Quantic sponsoring Leverage, thus creating Quantic LeveraGe.

ACHES and TeePee recruited Bobby and FEARS for the new game, winning the first online tournament of the year - the MLG $25K.

ACHES felt the team could improve even more and replaced FEARS with Scump; it paid off as they took the first offline event win at MLG Dallas 2011.

The next event, MLG Columbus 2011, saw them place fourth - ACHES replaced Bobby with ProoFy; again it paid off as they took first place at MLG Anaheim 2011.

Unfortunately, they could not continue the wins placing sixth at MLG Raleigh. ProoFy returned to OpTic and FEARS was restored to the lineup, they ended up placing fifth at MLG Orlando and sixth at MLG National Championship 2011.

Modern Warfare 3

Despite such success in Black Ops 1, there was no LAN functionality for Modern Warfare 3, so MLG decided not to pick it up to be on the circuit.

With few LAN events taking place in North America, there was only so many opportunities. ACHES' one event of the year was EGL 8 Manchester, placing top 8 with TeePee, John and NaDeSHoT.

Black Ops 2

At the beginning of Black Ops 2, ACHES joined compLexity alongside his duo TeePee, Crimsix and FEARS.

The season started well with compLexity winning Machinima's Frag Cup IV, then placing second at UMG Chicago.

Unfortunately, their achievement was overshadowed by an altercation between himself and NaDeSHoT - the two had been teammates only two months prior. The heated exchange of words led to ACHES pushing NaDeSHoT, something that they both now regret.

A change was necessary and ACHES once again put FEARS on the chopping block, with TuQuick filling in the vacant spot. Unfortunately for the team, TuQuick's tenure was short, as consecutive fourth-place finishes at the MLG Winter Championship and 2013 COD Champs were not good enough.

Their next pick-up was COD veteran Clayster and thus started the compLexity era of dominance.

The "Impact Killers" started one of the most dominant dynasties in Call of Duty esports history - ACHES and his team went on to win 6 championships that season.

Ghosts

The team went on to win the first event of the year before Clayster was dropped due to issues within the team.

The next big roster move for compLexity was to pick up Karma. This change no doubt paid off as they went on to win four more championships, including COD Champs 2014.

After UGC Niagara, the team were picked up by Evil Geniuses. Despite winning the MLG Anaheim International Playoffs, the team found themselves in a funk - placing top eight at Gfinity 3 and top sixteen at UMG Nashville 2014.

Many thought this was the end of the road for Evil Geniuses, other teams had caught up and surpassed this historic lineup. The internal conflict led to Aches being suspended for two Pro League games and Karma announcing that he wanted to leave the team.

Karma was loaned out to FaZe Clan in exchange for Dedo to finish up the season. Despite the setbacks, they concluded the year with a championship at ESWC.

Advanced Warfare

It was Aches' turn to join FaZe going into the new game and for the second year in a row won the opening event of the year - MLG Columbus 2014. Despite having a severe injury to his hand, ACHES continued on, leading his squad through the losers bracket to take the grand final against OpTic Gaming.

A poor result at UMG Orlando led to roster changes with Apathy being dropped to make way for Parasite. Alongside ACHES, SlasheR and Enable, the team went on to place third at COD Champs.

ACHES shifted to the revived Prophecy organisation, who placed second at the Gfinity Spring Masters 2015.

It became a running theme for ACHES that where there were great highs (soon after a roster change) tough lows followed. Prophecy failed to qualify for the next season of the Pro League.

He found a home with TCM-Gaming, traditionally a UK based organisation, and was reunited with long-time partner TeePee. TCM had invested heavily into the Advanced Warfare season and their decision to take a European team to America had not been as fruitful as they had hoped; in catching up the NA competition. With spots being freed up on the team, the two would join Jurd and Moose.

The first fully recognised international Call of Duty squad had a promising start, placing fifth at UMG Dallas. However, a top twelve placement at the Gfinity Summer Championship 2015 (as well as internal issues) led to Moose being replaced by FEARS.

The four played two more events together, again placing top twelve before the team was disbanded.

ACHES' final event of the year, MLG World Finals, was one to forget; placing top sixteen.

Black Ops 3

Black Ops 3 picked up where Advanced Warfare had left off, in poor standing. Despite qualifying for the Pro League, there was little to celebrate for Envy fans.

A top eight at the Stage 1 Playoffs saw TeePee retire from competing and ACHES went on to join NaDeSHoT's new organisation. TeePee retiring saw the end of a 3.5-year partnership, the longest-running duo in COD Esports.

It was a similar story, failing to win a single map and placing top twenty at the MLG Anaheim Open.

For the last event of the year, ACHES represented Cloud9 with Assault, Ricky and Lacefield. The team performed well, considering the short period of time they had been together, notably eliminating OpTic Gaming for the second year in a row.

Infinite Warfare

Infinite Warfare was a year to forget for ACHES and Cloud9. Despite claiming second at the opening event of the year, the same Cloud9 team couldn't manage any more than a top twelve finish before a change needed to be made.

The team replaced Ricky and Lacefield after a poor Stage 1 Pro League performance, replacing them with Priestahh and Xotic

A brief high, placing fourth at Anaheim, was not enough to uplift the poor performances at COD Champs; finishing top sixteen.

WWII

The WWII season had a similar tone to the previous, it was filled with performances that weren't up to his standards.

Having joined Evil Geniuses that season, the year was dominated by Rise Nation and Team Kaliber. The team of ACHES, Apathy, NAMELESS and Enable lasted until April before Enable and NAMELESS were replaced by Assault and SiLLY; the new team managed to keep EG in the Pro League.

The squad went on to place second at Seattle before the woes returned. COD Champs 2018 was an event that few expected them to succeed in, but they went all the way to lift the trophy.

Black Ops 4

For the Black Ops 4 season, Team Envy bought the Evil Geniuses team and brought on Huke as their fifth player. It was ACHES' second stint on Envy and it didn't prove to be any more successful.

The best result of the season came at CWL London 2019, fresh off a batch of roster changes, Envy had replaced Apathy and Assault with Decemate and Fero.

After a top sixteen finish at Anaheim, Envy soon loaned Huke to Splyce, making way for them to acquire Gunless on loan.

The team's second set of roster changes rewarded them with a top-eight finish at the Pro League playoffs and a top sixteen exit at COD Champs 2019.
