It’s kind of amazing how Warner Bros. is still around as an entertainment entity, despite the company’s numerous decisions. They renamed HBO Max to Max, before going back to HBO Max. Just recently, the company decided to undo the merger with Discovery and become Warner Bros. again.
Most importantly, despite major failures with Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and MultiVersus, the company is reportedly working on another DC live-service game. Life is truly stranger than fiction.
A new job listing from Warner Bros. Montreal has confirmed that the company is hiring for yet another live-service game starring DC characters. What’s most interesting about this is that WB Montreal hasn’t made a DC live-service title game, previously making Batman: Arkham Origins and Gotham Knights, the latter of which was mistaken as a live-service slop.
Naturally, seeing this company dedicate more time and resources to another live-service game was met with raised eyebrows and laughter. Fans on the Gaming Leaks subreddit can’t believe the company would do this again after numerous failures, but it seems they’re intent on making major gamer money.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is the biggest example of this, for obvious reasons. While the game has fun traversal, decent combat, and some fun story beats, that all goes away when repetitive missions rear their ugly head. Swinging around as Harley Quinn is fun, but having to shoot the same enemies over and over again to get loot that makes your numbers bigger isn’t.
MultiVersus is even more wasted potential from the company. This crossover platform fighter could have rivaled Super Smash Bros. by bringing in all these beloved characters from various Warner Bros. properties. DC, Game of Thrones, Adventure Time, and more duking it out had the potential to be amazing. Alas, this game suffered from having a beta with microtransactions and a relaunch that made everything worse.

There’s definitely mild interest in seeing which DC property ends up in this live-service game, but this project is already fighting an uphill battle. If there’s anything they need to learn from Suicide Squad, adding an offline mode so fans can play the single-player after it loses traction is essential.
